PMI MSB Series Compact Linear Guides

The PMI MSB Series is a compact linear guideway designed for machine building, automation equipment and industrial machinery where space efficiency, rigidity and accurate linear motion are required.

Available in linear rail sizes from 15 mm to 45 mm, the MSB Series offers a more compact profile than the PMI MSA Series, making it particularly suitable for applications where installation height or available mounting space is limited. Standard sizes include MSB15, MSB20, MSB25, MSB30, MSB35 and MSB45.

The MSB Series is available with several carriage configurations to suit different mounting arrangements. At Kiwi Motion, we stock the most commonly used E, S, TE and TS carriages. The E type provides a flanged carriage with a wider mounting surface, while the S type offers a compact square/unflanged configuration. TE and TS carriages are shorter versions, providing a more compact overall carriage length where space is restricted or lower load capacity is acceptable.

The MSB Series uses four rows of recirculating balls with a 45° contact angle, providing equal load capacity in the radial, reverse radial and lateral directions. This four-way equal load design provides good rigidity and allows the guideway to be used in a wide range of mounting orientations.

A face-to-face (DF) circular arc groove design provides self-aligning characteristics, helping to compensate for installation errors while maintaining smooth linear movement. PMI’s ball circulation and lubrication system also supports consistent lubrication, low friction and reliable operation throughout the service life of the guide.

As a UK PMI partner, Kiwi Motion can supply and machine MSB linear guides to suit individual applications. Our in-house machining capabilities include precision rail cutting, butt joining for longer rail assemblies, CNC machining of additional mounting holes and the machining of additional lubrication ports. This allows MSB rails to be supplied ready for installation, including applications where standard rail lengths or mounting arrangements are unsuitable.

Our in-house linear motion expertise also allows us to cross-reference linear guide part numbers and complete rail and carriage assemblies from other manufacturers against the PMI range. Whether replacing an individual carriage, complete rail assembly or an obsolete linear guide system, we can help identify a suitable PMI equivalent based on dimensions, mounting configuration, load requirements and application.
