PMI MSA Series Heavy Load Linear Guides

The PMI MSA Series is a heavy load linear guideway designed for machine tools, automation equipment and industrial machinery requiring high load capacity, rigidity and accurate linear motion.

Available in linear rail sizes from 15 mm to 65 mm, the MSA Series covers a wide range of applications, from compact machinery through to large, heavily loaded machine axes. Standard sizes include MSA15, MSA20, MSA25, MSA30, MSA35, MSA45, MSA55 and MSA65.

The MSA Series is available with several carriage configurations to suit different mounting arrangements and load requirements. At Kiwi Motion, the most commonly supplied versions are the E, S, LE and LS carriages. The E type is a standard-length flanged carriage, while the S type provides a compact square/unflanged design. For applications requiring greater load capacity and moment resistance, the LE offers a longer flanged carriage and the LS a longer square/unflanged carriage.

The MSA Series uses four rows of recirculating balls with a 45° contact angle, providing equal load capacity in the radial, reverse radial and lateral directions. This four-way equal load design allows the guides to be installed in a variety of orientations while maintaining high rigidity and smooth linear movement.

A face-to-face (DF) circular arc groove design provides self-aligning characteristics, helping to compensate for installation errors even when the guideway is preloaded. PMI’s ball circulation and lubrication system supports smooth operation and consistent lubrication throughout the carriage.

MSA rails are available with counterbored mounting holes (R type) or tapped mounting holes (T type), providing flexibility when integrating the guideway into different machine structures.

As a UK PMI partner, Kiwi Motion can supply and machine MSA linear guides to suit individual applications. Our in-house machining capabilities include precision rail cutting, butt joining for longer rail assemblies, CNC machining of additional mounting holes and the machining of additional lubrication holes. This allows rails to be supplied ready for installation, including applications where standard rail lengths or mounting arrangements are unsuitable.
